Hudsodonia 2023
To our Fellow Colleague:
We recognize you don’t often open your email to find a request from the company President in your Inbox. You are receiving this email today because we believe that you are committed to being the very best in the industry. Not just in your unique skill sets and job performance, but also, to being a conscientious citizen that understands the impact our industry has on marine ecosystems and the current climate change crisis, and our responsibility to do what we can to protect our fragile environment.
As you may know, Hudson Shipping took a position some time ago to refrain from using any vessels fitted with Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS), also known as ship scrubbers. Since that time, we have incorporated a “Clean & Green” logo on our website, social media pages, and in all of our company literature.
The fight continues around the world to reverse the 2020 regulation that gave shipowners a loophole by installing scrubbers, rather than using a low-sulfur, cleaner fuel. Hudson is currently ramping up its efforts to align with like-minded companies, governments, and environmental groups in the fight to ban the use of scrubbers worldwide.
Today we are asking you to join us in this campaign by clicking the link below and signing a petition in support of a recent Letter from Congress to President Biden, urging him to issue an executive order on maritime decarbonization, including a complete ban on scrubbers in US waters. Although you are not required to sign the petition, we hope you will consider adding your voice in support of the executive order request.
Your participation is strictly voluntary. The petition reaches The Action Network, an independent organization with whom we have no affiliation. In this way, you can be assured that we will have no way of knowing whether or not you choose to add your name.
Moving forward, we hope to engage with you more often in this manner and we thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Public Relations – Hudson Shipping Lines
Avi Eilon, President
